TEACHING

Simon Oberleitner has been teaching at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna since 2021, where he is Senior Lecturer for applied piano. His teaching focuses on the creative and versatile use of the piano and encompasses applied piano playing, improvised song accompaniment, improvisation, arrangement and composition, score reading, self-accompanied singing, and leading music-making processes from the piano.

Beyond his teaching at the university, he regularly works as a lecturer in professional development courses and workshops for teachers, with a particular focus on contemporary approaches to using the piano in educational settings, improvisation and creative musicianship. His pedagogical work also includes the conception and realization of music education projects, individual instrumental and artistic coaching in piano, voice, composition and music technology, as well as the composition of educational repertoire. He also regularly serves as a jury member at music competitions.
